Job summary

Saint Alphonsus Health System in Boise seeking a part-time Bed Control Nurse to coordinate admissions and transfers across our hospitals. The role requires an RN license, 2+ years of RN experience, and acute/critical care background. BLS is required; ACLS/PALS may be accepted in lieu.

Qualifications

• Current RN license required.
• Multistate licenses must establish residency with the Idaho Board of Nursing within 60 days from hire.
• All colleagues must provide licensure or proof of application for an Oregon RN license within 90 days of the hire date.
• Acute care, critical care, or MS experience required.
• BSN strongly preferred.
• A minimum of two years of Registered Nurse experience is required. BLS certification required; ACLS/PALS may be accepted in lieu of BLS.

Responsibilities

• Knows bed availability on all care units and coordinates placement of all inpatients in an appropriate location.
• Ability to navigate robotic consult protocol.
• Coordinate/facilitate inter-facility transfers of patients from outlying facilities.
• Contact physicians in a timely and professional manner.
• Communicate with managers and charge nurses to ensure adequate staffing for admissions.
• Participate in bed briefings and surge meetings to optimize admission flow.
• Coordinate with transport, PACU, and inpatient units for movement of beds.
• Enter calls from outlying facilities into Forefront, search physicians with Central Logic, and use paging system.
