Job summary

UMass Memorial Health is seeking a Bed Management Coordinator to coordinate the assignment of hospital beds across the UMMMC system. You will log requests, manage patient intake data, and track bed availability to support admissions and efficient patient flow.

Responsibilities include triaging calls, updating bed management systems, registering patients, and coordinating with nursing leaders for resource needs. A High School diploma and 3+ years’ experience are required.

Qualifications

• High School graduate or equivalent.
• 3+ years of related experience.
• Ability to use specialized applications software and computer systems for patient registration, scheduling and related processes.
• Knowledge of medical terminology, third party payer billing and managed care requirements.

Responsibilities

• Receives and triages phone calls from internal and external admission points; logs requests and updates bed management systems.
• Enters intake patient information and provides bed status updates.
• Creates reservation requests for patients and monitors bed availability; notifies leaders when resources are needed.
• Prioritizes requests according to department policies and directs patients to appropriate units.
• Registers patients and completes admissions paperwork; coordinates with admitting units for arrival and care.
