Job summary

Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource in Menlo Park, CA is seeking an outstanding Beamline Operations Engineer Associate to provide technical support and oversight for the experimental facility, beamlines, and equipment; design, prototype and commission electro-optical-mechanical systems and components; identify need and provide solutions for process improvements; create technical documents and user manuals; and support visiting scientists and SSRL staff.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, physics, chemistry or related field, or five years of equivalent work experience.
Operate and troubleshoot sophisticated electro-optical-mechanical and logic control systems.
Extensive use of hand tools and specialized tools for assembly and operation of precision electro-optical-mechanical systems.

Responsibilities

Perform advanced technical work with experimental equipment; analyze data, monitor experiments, and develop prototypes and systems.
Serve as a key interface between user groups, experiment support, and operations teams.
Provide first-line user technical support and respond to issues affecting beamline operations.
