Job summary

SLAC’s SSRL seeks a Beamline Operations Engineer Associate to provide technical oversight of beamline operations, participate in installation and commissioning, troubleshoot complex equipment, and collaborate with SSRL engineers and visiting scientists. The role emphasizes safety, documentation, and user support in a high-technology environment.

Candidates should hold a Bachelor's in a relevant technical field or equivalent experience, with strong electro-optical-system skills and teamwork

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a relevant technical field or five years of equivalent work experience.
Experience operating and troubleshooting electro-optical-mechanical control systems.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities required.

Responsibilities

Provide advanced technical work on experimental equipment, designs, reports, and data analysis.
Serve as interface between user groups, experiment support, and operations groups.
Assist with installation, commissioning, and troubleshooting of SSRL beamlines and subsystems.
Collaborate with engineers and scientists on equipment development and procurement.
Maintain and create technical documents and user manuals.
Ensure compliance with safety policies and procedures.
