Job summary

Discovery Land Company invites applications for a Beach Supervisor at Dune Deck Beach Club in Westhampton Beach, NY. This seasonal role (May 1–October 9, 2027) oversees all Outdoor Pursuits staff, ensures safety, delivers exceptional guest service to our private club members, and collaborates with the Beach Manager on programs and events.

You will lead lifeguards, pool/beach attendants, and program staff, schedule and train the team, monitor budgets, and participate in meetings.

Qualifications

• Experience supervising lifeguards, attendants and program staff is a plus.
• Strong verbal and written communication in English; multilingual skills helpful.

Responsibilities

• Manage all staff within the department (Lifeguards, Pool & Beach Attendants, Outdoor Pursuits Attendants, Kids Camp Attendants).
• Schedule, train and provide ongoing feedback for direct reports.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment; monitor budgets and generate daily activity reports.
• Provide risk management for activities and spaces; perform first aid when necessary.
• Attend meetings and trainings; support Beach Manager; assist with other duties as assigned.

This is a seasonal role available May 1 to October 9, 2027.In this role, you will be part of creating the Discovery Land Company experience for our members and fellow employees.Key ResponsibilitiesManage all staff within the department: Lifeguards, Pool & Beach Attendants, Outdoor Pursuits Attendants, Kids Camp Attendants specifically in the absence of the Beach Manager.Scheduling, training and on-going feedback of all direct reports.Maintain a clean, organized and safe work environmentAttend off site excursions and field trips with MembersActively monitor budget and variance reports with Director of Outdoor OperationsGenerate daily reports of activities throughout department for Beach ManagerProvide risk management for all activities and outdoor/indoor spaces throughout department.Perform first aid treatments when necessary.Attend meetings and trainings as necessary.Any other duties as assigned.Competencies for Success in the RoleRegularly work with other departments or projects and frequently in a team environmentMake decisions with a team and independantly while always putting member and staff safety first.Delivers results - getting things done on time and accurately during the busiest of times while maintaining a positive and professional demeanor.Strategic thinking – ability to make decions in a demanding environment.QualificationsObtain and maintain active Discovery 4 Life and American Red Cross CPR, AED, First Aid certifications.Strong verbal and written communiction in English, additional languages helpful.High School diploma or GED equivalent required, Bachelor degree preferred.Supervisory experience, 1-3 yearsUnderstanding of Guest Service in luxury level resort or private club settingAdditional RequirementsPositive attitude, professional demeanor, and exceptional communication and interpersonal skills to deliver service to members, guests, and team members.Must be able to work flexible work hours/schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
