Job summary

The Newington Public Schools are seeking a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) to support students with behavioral needs in the least restrictive environment across elementary settings. This role partners with guidance staff, teachers and families to implement evidence-based strategies and monitor student progress.

Qualifications

• Must hold a Master's degree with emphasis in psychology, behavioral studies, special education, sociology or related field.
• Must be a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (B.C.B.A.) or (B.C.A.B.A.).
• Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children with special needs.
• Experience with ABA, Verbal, Behavior VB-MAPP assessment, Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA), and Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS) strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Participate in PPT meetings for students with ASD and other disabilities to assist teams and parents in educational planning.
• Confers with general and special education staff on best practices for students with ASD.
• Provide leadership to school teams regarding ABA programming.
• Collaborate with EIP and PPT teams to maximize inclusion with appropriate supports.
• Maintain records and communicate with parents and staff; develop measurable goals for students.
