Bay Aging's Gloucester Bay Transit Facility is seeking a part-time Dispatch/Transit Scheduler to coordinate rides, confirm pickups, and optimize routing for riders in Gloucester, VA. The role communicates with drivers and dispatchers, maintains manifests, timecards, and trip records, and provides occasional passenger rides when needed.
Requires high school diploma, valid driver's license, and customer-service experience.
Job Location: Gloucester Bay Transit Facility - Gloucester, VA 23061. Position Type: Part Time. Salary Range: $16.25 Hourly. Pay Rate: $16.00/hr. Ensures all Bay Transit passengers have a safe and timely ride to meet their transportation needs to work, retail, legal, medical, educational, or recreational facilities. Report to the Regional Transit Operations Supervisor.
Relies upon experience with the software and knowledge of the service area to plan and schedule rides for clients and guide drivers. Perform a defined, repetitive, and limited number of tasks. Collaborate closely with drivers to ensure passengers have a safe and timely ride.
Decision making- Manages daily scheduling and dispatching responsibilities for the position’s designated service area. Refer to supervisor when there is an incident with a vehicle on the road or a passenger, and when there is a significant disruption to the transportation routes.
Office-based position with minimal physical requirements (ability to lift 15lbs, walking and climbing stairs). None of the essential functions of the position can be performed virtually.
Requires a High School Diploma or equivalent; must possess a valid driver’s license. Experience in customer service positions.
FLSA status: This is a non-exempt position.
