Job summary

Alta Planning + Design in Oakland seeks an experienced Senior Civil Engineering Associate to lead sustainable transportation projects across the Bay Area. You will provide technical leadership on roadway design, mentor staff, and oversee QA/QC while driving business development with clients and partners.

This role requires 15+ years as a Transportation Engineer, 5+ years as a Project Manager, a CA P.E. license, and strong proficiency with GEOPAK, InRoads, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and OpenRoads.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of experience as a Transportation Engineer in a consulting environment or public entity.
• 5+ years as a Project Manager.
• 3+ years managing staff.
• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in California.
• Experience in active, non-motorized transportation and PS&E packages.

Responsibilities

• Lead business development activities across the Bay Area market.
• Provide technical leadership on roadway design and engineering approach.
• Oversee QA/QC processes to ensure high-quality deliverables.
• Mentor staff across offices and support career growth.
• Manage transportation projects from design through construction.
• Prepare schedules, budgets, and scopes of services; manage budgets.
• Implement best practices to improve project delivery efficiency.
• Balance staff workload across projects.
• Collaborate with other offices and Trilon Group colleagues.
