Job description

CHF is a New York based leading designer, manufacturer and marketer of Bedding, Bath, Window and Accessories. Some of our brands include DKNY, Brookstone, Karl Lagerfeld, Ted Baker, and Peri Home. You'll see our products at Bloomingdales, Target, Walmart, Costco, Home Goods, and many more. Our strong passion for product development has stood for almost 100 years across many Home categories.

We are seeking a Bath Designer in our Irvington, NY office. This will be a hybrid role with 2-3 days in the office and/or our NYC Showroom.

The Bath Designer will lead the creative development of bath textiles and accessories specifically for the off-price channel, balancing fashion, trend, quality, and value. This role will identify emerging design and consumer trends and translate them into compelling, differentiated product that delivers a strong designer look at an accessible price point.

The ideal candidate combines strong design instincts with a deep understanding of off-price retail, competitive shopping, cost/value engineering, and speed-to-market.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop seasonal and monthly design direction for bath towels, bath accessories, shower curtains, bath rugs, robes and related categories.
  • Create compelling color, pattern, texture and assortment stories appropriate for off-price consumers.
  • Develop exclusive prints, patterns, textures and constructions that create a differentiated point of view.
  • Design with a strong understanding of value engineering, identifying opportunities to achieve a premium aesthetic while maintaining aggressive cost targets.
  • Partner closely with Merchandising, Product Development and Sourcing to bring concepts from trend - design - product - retail.
  • Build seasonal mood boards, color palettes, pattern concepts, CADs and presentations for internal and customer review.
  • Shop and analyze competitors across TJ Maxx, Marshalls, HomeGoods, Ross, Burlington, Nordstrom Rack and other off-price retailers, as well as department stores and specialty retailers.
  • Identify white-space opportunities and understand what is new, exciting and differentiated versus what is already over-distributed in the market.
  • Develop product at the appropriate fashion level, quantity, cost and timing for the off-price business.
  • Work with overseas design and development teams to ensure design intent is maintained through sampling and production.
  • Provide clear design direction while remaining flexible to customer-specific opportunities, closeouts, cancellations and opportunistic buys.
  • Participate in customer presentations and communicate design concepts with confidence and clarity.
  • Maintain an active library of trend, competitive and market intelligence.
What We're Looking For
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in home textiles, bath, soft home, fashion or a related design field.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating pattern, color, textile and product design.
  • Understanding of the off-price consumer and retail environment.
  • Strong commercial sensibility - able to distinguish between what is creatively interesting and what will actually sell at retail.
  • Ability to design across multiple price points and levels of quality.
  • Strong knowledge of color, print, pattern, texture and textile construction.
  • Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite and relevant design/CAD tools.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
  • Highly collaborative, entrepreneurial and comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and react quickly to changing customer opportunities.
