Description

Job Title: Bath Aide
Location: Orchard Park Assisted Living
Reports To: Floor Supervisor

Position Overview:
The Bath Aide is primarily responsible for completing scheduled resident baths and showers while promoting resident safety, dignity, comfort, and independence. The position works under the day-to-day direction of the Floor Supervisor, with the Resident Relations Coordinator serving as the department manager. Bathing and related personal care are the primary focus. When those responsibilities permit, the Bath Aide also provides reasonable resident-care support as directed. This position has no supervisory, scheduling, or on-call responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities:

Resident Bathing and Personal Care:

  • Complete scheduled resident baths and showers according to care plans, ECP assignments, facility procedures, and resident preferences.
  • Provide safe, respectful assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, oral care, hair care, and related personal-care needs while encouraging resident independence when appropriate.
  • Maintain resident privacy, dignity, comfort, and safety and keep bathing areas, equipment, and supplies clean, organized, stocked, and ready for use.
  • Promptly report refusals, missed baths, skin concerns, changes in condition or behavior, or other resident concerns to the Floor Supervisor and appropriate manager.

ECP Documentation and Follow-Through:

  • Document completed baths, showers, refusals, and other assigned care accurately and timely in ECP.
  • Review assigned bathing tasks and communicate with the Floor Supervisor regarding incomplete, delayed, refused, or rescheduled care.
  • Follow established resident-care instructions and care plans, and seek direction when questions or concerns arise.

Grooming, Nail Care, and Related Personal Care:

  • Assist residents with routine grooming needs, including hair care, oral care, and other personal-care tasks associated with maintaining resident comfort and hygiene.
  • Provide routine nail care and foot hygiene as permitted by the resident care plan, facility policy, CNA scope, and employee training/competency. Report wounds, skin breakdown, infection concerns, pain, abnormal nails, or other concerns requiring nursing or medical follow-up.
  • Maintain appropriate supplies for bathing, grooming, nail care, and related personal-care tasks and notify the Floor Supervisor when items need to be restocked or replaced.

Team Collaboration and Resident-Care Support:

  • Maintain regular communication with the Floor Supervisor regarding bathing completion, resident concerns, priorities, and barriers affecting assigned work.
  • When scheduled bathing and related responsibilities are completed or operationally permit, assist with reasonable resident-care needs as directed by the Floor Supervisor, including call lights, mobility, toileting, dressing, grooming, or other appropriate activities of daily living within the employee's training and certification.
  • Work cooperatively with RAs, MAs, Housekeeping, Resident Services, and management to support resident care and daily operations. The Bath Aide is expected to contribute as a team member and provide reasonable assistance when needed.
  • Maintain professional, respectful communication with residents, families, coworkers, and management and remain flexible when daily priorities change based on resident or facility needs.

Other Duties Assigned by Management:

  • Perform other reasonable resident-care, personal-care, documentation, supply, or operational duties related to the Bath Aide position as assigned by management based on facility needs. The position is not limited to a fixed number of baths as the entirety of the workday.
  • Follow Orchard Park policies, resident-rights expectations, infection-control practices, confidentiality requirements, applicable safety procedures, and established chain of command.
