Job summary

Tropicale Foods, LLC in Texas is seeking a detail-oriented Batcher to ensure all batching activities meet the highest standards for quality, safety and regulatory compliance. You will requisition ingredients, batch according to SOPs, and record batch information including lot numbers, temperatures, residence times and machine settings.

The position requires careful operation of scales, mixers, liquefiers and pasteurizers.

Qualifications

• Basic math and analytical skills.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Mechanical/Technical aptitude to troubleshoot minor equipment failures.
• Knowledge of food safety principles, GMPs, HACCP and SQF.
• Familiar with the Pasteurizing Study Guide.

Responsibilities

• Requisitions the required ingredients.
• Batch ingredients in accordance to approved SOPs.
• Records necessary batch information including ingredient lot numbers, temperatures, residence time and machine settings.
• Operates all scales, mixers, liquefiers, pasteurizers, and related equipment; weighs, measures, and mixes ingredients per standards.
• Performs routine tests to ensure mixture meets properties and consistencies.
• Performs periodic sampling of products to ensure quality, fill levels, labeling, dating, and container integrity.
• Monitors production lines for efficiency and performs real-time inspections.
• Sets up tests and inspections such as pre-op sanitation and ATP swab tests.
• Sets up equipment for pasteurizers; performs equipment setups and breakdowns.
• Operates CIP system; maintains clean work area daily.
• Follows GMPs and safety protocols.
• Reports unsafe conditions to management.
• Communicates product/process modifications to ensure conformance.
• Notifies operators/management of issues affecting quality/safety.
• Completes tasks as assigned.
