Job summary

Wisconsin Department of Transportation in Madison seeks an IT professional to support production batch operations, ensuring timely execution and data integrity across diverse systems.

You will join a 24/7 on-call rotation, collaborate with IT partners and business customers, and provide guidance on batch processes, scheduling, and incident response. Remote work up to five days per week is possible; training in-office as needed.

Qualifications

  • Experience in supporting production distributed server-based systems and mainframe batch operations.
  • Experience with batch job scheduling tools (e.g. Control-M Distributed).
  • Experience using Job Control Language (JCL).
  • Experience with mainframe batch tools (e.g. Control-M).
  • Experience with Change Management tools (e.g. ChangeMan).

Responsibilities

  • Perform WisDOT production batch operations that implement, maintain, and support WisDOT’s diverse business systems/applications and their many integrated subsystems and datasets.
  • Engage with WisDOT’s batch operations team to confirm proper job scheduling, sequencing, categorization, and troubleshooting to ensure successful batch job completion. This requires participating in the 24x7 batch support rotation.
  • Provide consultation, training, and mentoring efforts to other IT platform subject matter experts and developers on WisDOT batch processes.
  • Monitor results and ensure the validity of data obtained via WisDOT production batch processes, and the accurate and appropriate distribution of batch processing output.
  • Effectively communicate with the DOA Division of Enterprise Technology regarding distributed production batch services and support.

This full-time permanent position is headquartered at the Hill Farms State Office Building on the nearwest side of Madison, WIand allows the option to work remotely up to 5 days per week. All employees are generally expected to be headquartered and work within the State of Wisconsin.This position will be required to come into the office for training, meetings and/or operational needs. Position Summary

We are looking for an IT professional who can:

  • Perform WisDOT production batch operations that implement, maintain, and support WisDOT’s diverse business systems/applications and their many integrated subsystems and datasets.
  • Engage with WisDOT’s batch operations team to confirm proper job scheduling, sequencing, categorization, and troubleshooting to ensure successful batch job completion. This requires participating in the 24x7 batch support rotation.
  • Provide consultation, training, and mentoring efforts to other IT platform subject matter experts and developers on various topics related to WisDOT production batch processes.
  • Monitor results and ensure the validity of data obtained via WisDOT production batch processes, and the accurate and appropriate distribution of batch processing output.
  • Effectively communicate with the Department of Administration (DOA) Division of Enterprise Technology (DET) regarding distributed production batch services and support.
Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range (07-33) with an annual salary of $79,040 - $112,320 (or $38 - $54 per hour), plus excellent benefits . A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

This position requires occasional night and/or weekend hours. This position alternates with other team members to provide 24/7 support of the WisDOT batch job stream. Off-hour availability is required during assigned weeks to respond to customer calls when batch issues arise.

This state agency does not sponsor work visas.This state agency is not enrolled in USCIS E-Verify and is not eligible to employ international F-1 students seeking STEM-OPT extension.Any appointment made will be contingent on the applicant being able to prove valid status to work in the United States.

Qualifications

Qualified applicants must detail having experience in all the following in order to be considered:

  • Professional experience in supporting production distributed server-based application systems and mainframe batch operation processes (including prioritizing, scheduling, and/or running procedures)
  • Professional experience working with distributed server-based application system batch job scheduling tools (e.g. Control-M Distributed)
  • Professional experience using Job Control Language (JCL)

In addition to having all the above, well qualified applicants will also detail having experience with one or more of the following:

  • Professional experience working with mainframe batch job scheduling tools (e.g. Control-M)
  • Professional experience working with Change Management tools to make procedure changes (e.g. ChangeMan).
