We have an exciting opportunity for you at the Department of Transportation!

We are looking to fill a Java Developer(IS Systems Development Services Specialist) who will provide leadership to IT professionals on the adaptation and use of Java development tools and methods. You will work with various DOT business areas to develop solutions with many complex variables and maintain applications with Spring Boot and Angular frameworks.

This position is headquartered at one of the following WisDOT buildings located in: Madison, La Crosse, or Green Bay, Wisconsin and allows the option to work remotely up to 5 days per week. All employees are generally expected to be headquartered and work within the State of Wisconsin. This position will be required to come into the office for training, meetings and/or operational needs. This topic will be discussed more at the time of the interview.

Position Summary

• Support our diverse application portfolio (vendor cloud applications as well as in-house Java and .NET applications)
• Provide consulting to various development teams within our organization on their application support, development, and modernization efforts

Salary Information

This position is in schedule-range (07-33) with an annual salary of $79,040 - $112,320 (or $38 - $54 per hour), plus excellent benefits . A twelve-month probationary period is required. Pay for current state employees will be set in accordance with the Wisconsin State Compensation Plan.

Qualifications

A minimally qualified candidate must detail having experience in all ofthe following in order to be considered:

• Performing analysis of application systems resulting in solution recommendations for application development/enhancements.
• Programming and implementing web application solutions (using JAVA, JEE, Spring/Spring Boot, Angular, Python, HTML5, SQL, DB2, Oracle, Hibernate, and Liberty)
• Using development tools such as IntelliJ and/or Git

In addition to having all of the above, a well-qualified candidate will also have experience in one or more of the following:

• Modernizing framework for Java applications
• Working with automating unit testing for applications using tools such as Selenium
• Developing, testing, and/or deploying robust Java applications using industry-leading technologies and coding standards
• Reviewing business requirements and translating them into technical requirements
