Job summary

The City of Galt is seeking a temporary Sports Official to officiate basketball games primarily on Saturdays with occasional weeknights. You will referee, keep score when assigned, and enforce league rules while wearing the required uniform.

Responsibilities include supervising games, reviewing league rules, maintaining records and reports, and inspecting facilities. This position requires First Aid/CPR/AED certification and a willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of rules and officiating techniques for the assigned sport.
• Ability to officiate, supervise games and enforce league rules.
• Completion of an accredited Adult/Child/Infant First Aid, CPR, and AED training within the last 2 years.
• Ability to make quick and accurate decisions while maintaining safety.
• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Good physical stamina to run up and down the court during games.

Responsibilities

• Act as referee and/or umpire at sporting events and supervise games.
• Review and interpret league rules and maintain records and reports.
• Set up and take down of equipment and ensure proper officiating uniforms.
• Provide diplomatic resolution of disputes and ensure safety policies are followed.
