Qualifications

• Certificate of completion as an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) required.
• Minimum 6 months of current EMT-B field experience.
• National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician - Basic credential required.
• NREMT EMT-B preferred.

Job description

The EMT Basic Skills Laboratory Assistant supports hands-on clinical and scenario-based EMT Basic labs in alignment with NREMT and NHTSA standards. This role helps develop competent, compassionate, entry-level EMT-Basics by ensuring clinical realism, lab safety, and achievement of program outcomes.

Primary Responsibilities

• Oversee and lead assigned demonstrations to students during EMT basic skills labs under lead instructor guidance.
• Communicate learning outcomes for each skill session.
• Motivate students with a professional, responsive, and cordial attitude to perform at their highest level.
• Provide real-time coaching, feedback, and mentorship in skill performance.
• Maintaining an atmosphere of dignity and propriety conducive to learning in the classroom.
• Assist in setup, breakdown, and inventory of simulation labs- ensuring readiness and cleanliness.
• Reinforce professional behavior, clinical standards, and safety protocols.
• Promote a positive learning environment aligned with Tyler Junior College values.

Work Environment:

The work environment includes both indoor and outdoor settings, with exposure to machinery noise and regular duties required outside of standard business hours.

If travel is required, the candidate must have and maintain a current, valid Texas driver’s license and an acceptable driving record

Required Education

Certificate of completion as an Emergency Medical Technician

Required Experience

Minimum 6 months of current, active field experience as EMT- B

Required Credentials/Licensures

Certificate of proficiency from the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technician - Basic

Preferred Credentials/Licensures

NREMT EMT-B

Preferred Experience

1+ years of field experience as NREMT-B
