Job summary
DeBra-Kuempel is seeking a Building Automation Systems (BAS) Estimator to prepare accurate, competitive cost estimates for BAS projects in Lexington, KY. The role reviews plans, specs, and customer requirements to develop bids for new installations, retrofits, and upgrades, supporting business development and partnering with engineers, contractors, and clients.
The ideal candidate combines BAS/HVAC controls knowledge with strong analytical and communication skills to support the full bid
Qualifications
- Associate's in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or related field.
- 2 years of estimating experience in BAS, HVAC controls or smart buildings.
- Familiarity with LEED, FDD, cybersecurity standards for BAS, and cloud-based systems.
- Field experience in BAS installation or commissioning is a plus.
- Experience with take-offs, BOMs, and cost estimating.
Responsibilities
- Review project documents and specifications to determine scope.
- Prepare detailed take-offs for BAS components and labor.
- Develop BOMs, labor estimates, subcontractor quotes, and margins.
- Estimate costs for plan & spec, design-build, and performance contracts.
- Select appropriate BAS hardware/software and ensure compliance with specs.
- Support bid lifecycle with proposals, pricing, and narratives.
- Maintain estimating databases and stay current with BAS trends.
