Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Controls Engineering.
• 2+ years BAS/DDC or PLC experience may be considered in lieu of a formal educational degree.
• 5 years' experience designing, programming, or engineering automation/control systems.
• Experience using BACnet, Modbus, or similar protocols.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD, Visio, Microsoft Office, and BAS-related networking.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC, electrical systems, and BAS architecture.
• Ability to interpret construction documents and engineering standards.
• Proficiency with schematics, wiring diagrams, and control panel design.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop BAS, including DDC controls, using advanced engineering principles and industry standards.
• Exercise independent judgment in system design, control strategies, and engineering solutions to meet project and compliance requirements.
• Interpret construction documents to produce control system designs, submittals, and system architectures.
• Develop and program control logic and integrate third-party systems (e.g., BACnet, Modbus).
• Serve as technical lead for assigned projects, responsible for key engineering decisions and system functionality.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment of design intent and execution.
• Identify project risks, gaps, and ambiguities; develop solutions and initiate RFIs.
• Review and validate engineering deliverables (schematics, layouts, sequences) for accuracy and quality.
• Provide technical leadership during commissioning to ensure systems meet design intent.
• Recommend design improvements to optimize system performance and reliability.
• Select and specify control components and maintain accurate project documentation.
• Provide subject matter expertise and escalates complex issues with recommended solutions.
