Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and service BAS/DDC systems and components.
• Perform point-to-point checkout, system functional testing, and calibration.
• Troubleshoot controllers, sensors, actuators, and network issues.
• Assist with programming updates, parameter adjustments, and graphics revisions.
• Interpret control drawings and sequences of operation; document changes.
• Work with mechanical contractors, engineering teams, and facility staff.
• Provide customer support and clearly communicate system functionality.

A well-established Building Automation & HVAC Controls contractor is seeking aBAS Controls Technician to support growing project demand throughout the Des Moines metro area.This position involves hands-on installation, commissioning, troubleshooting, and optimization of modern DDC/BAS systems across commercial, healthcare, education, and industrial facilities.

• Location: Des Moines, IA
• Employment Type: Full-Time
• Hourly Rate: $34.00 – $50.00/hr (DOE)
• Overtime: Available

Key Responsibilities

• Install, commission, and service BAS/DDC systems and components
• Perform point-to-point checkout, system functional testing, and calibration

• Interpret control drawings, wiring diagrams, and sequences of operation
• Document commissioning results, test procedures, and field changes

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Experience as a BAS Controls Technician or HVAC Controls Specialist
• Strong troubleshooting skills with BAS/DDC hardware and HVAC systems

• Hands-on experience with platforms such as Tridium Niagara, JCI, Honeywell, Siemens, or Distech
• Understanding of HVAC equipment including VAVs, AHUs, chillers, boilers, and terminal units
