Job summary

SJ Mobilita seeks an experienced Controls Programmer / Software Engineer to join as Building Automation Controls Engineer in Hartford, CT. The role involves engineering, programming, troubleshooting, commissioning, and supporting BAS and HVAC control systems.

You will work independently under the Operations and Engineering Manager to deliver high-quality automation solutions. Responsibilities include developing DDC projects, configuring controllers and interfaces, and performing system startup

Qualifications

Minimum 2 years of programming experience; 5 years preferred.
Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and HVAC controls.
Experience with DDC programming and controls engineering.
Ability to read and interpret construction documents and control drawings.
Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
Ability to distinguish between HVAC equipment, controller, software, and communication issues.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Self motivated, detail oriented, and customer focused.
Ability to work independently in a fast paced project environment.

Responsibilities

Engineer and program new Direct Digital Control (DDC) projects.
Program, monitor, install, and support Building Automation Systems (BAS).
Work with HVAC controls and integrated building systems.
Develop and maintain graphical web interfaces for system monitoring and diagnostics.
Configure and integrate controllers, sensors, and other building automation components.
Troubleshoot HVAC control systems, computers, controllers, and related equipment.
Identify whether issues are related to HVAC equipment, controls, software, or communication systems.
Perform system testing, startup, commissioning, and integration.
Verify system functionality and resolve issues before project completion.
Prepare and maintain as-built drawings and project documentation.
Complete system records, closeout documentation, and related technical reports.
Ensure control systems meet project specifications, design requirements, and applicable standards.
Work independently and collaboratively with project teams.
Communicate effectively with customers, engineers, technicians, and internal teams.
Manage assigned tasks and meet project deadlines.
Maintain a strong focus on quality, customer satisfaction, and technical accuracy.
