The Bartender is responsible for preparing food and drink orders, serving beverages and meals to patrons in accordance with state and federal age requirements, and coordinating lounge/bar activities.
Qualifications
- Three to six months of related experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Alcohol Awareness Certification (must comply with State regulations).
- Ability to read, write, and speak English.
- Ability to identify and resolve problems promptly, develop alternative solutions, and exercise reason even with emotional topics.
- Ability to manage difficult or emotional customer situations, respond promptly to customer needs, and provide excellent service.
- Maintain professionalism, treat others with respect and consideration.
- Knowledge of and ability to interpret and follow policies and procedures.
- Adhere to safety and security procedures, report unsafe conditions, and use equipment properly.
- Communicate ideas and information clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Meet work schedule demands, be punctual, and be flexible to work outside regular hours as needed.
Responsibilities
- Verify customer age for alcohol purchase by checking IDs.
- Present menus, answer questions, and take food and beverage orders.
- Prepare drink orders including wine, liquor, and beer.
- Prepare appetizers and food items according to recipes and standards.
- Monitor lounge/bar seating, ensuring all guests are served.
- Compute bills, accept payments, and balance sales receipts.
- Limit problems related to excessive drinking by discontinuing alcohol service when necessary and notifying management.
- Clean bars, work areas, tables, glasses, utensils, and equipment.
- Maintain a tidy kitchen and lounge station, restock supplies, and keep the area clean.
- Plan, organize, and control lounge/bar operations.
- Slice and pit fruit for garnishes, arrange bottles and glasses attractively, create drink recipes, and invent new drinks.
- Manage inventory, order supplies, and maintain logs.
- Ensure quality and standards of food and supplies, and proper tax reporting of tips.
- Perform other duties as assigned, including access to sensitive areas and handling cash securely.
- Interact with guests and colleagues, sometimes unsupervised.
- Exercise sound judgment, uphold trust and responsibility, and represent the company professionally.
