Job Summary

To serve beverages and/or food to guests in a friendly, courteous, and timely manner, ensuring guest satisfaction. Also, to prepare beverages for other servers and act as a lounge cashier.

Essential Job Functions

This description summarizes primary responsibilities and qualifications. It does not include all duties or qualifications that may be required now or in the future. The hotel operates 24/7, so shifts may vary in days, start times, and hours.

  1. Greet guests courteously, promote and document drink orders, and mix, garnish, and present drinks using standard recipes and portion control.
  2. Maintain proper setup of the bar daily, including requisitioning and stocking beer, wine, spirits, paper products, condiments, and produce based on daily projections.
  3. Maintain stock, cut, and store fresh fruit, vegetables, juices, and perishables daily to ensure quality.
  4. Handle cash transactions accurately, verify charges, record transactions, and balance cash drawers.
  5. Secure all beverages, food, and equipment, deposit cash drops, and secure the bank.
  6. Answer the bar phone promptly, take room service orders courteously, input orders into the POS system, and create guest checks to maintain accountability.
  7. Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products to meet health standards.
  8. Adhere to all company policies, safety, and security procedures, including emergency protocols and use of protective equipment.
  9. Report unsafe conditions, accidents, injuries, property damage, or loss to supervisors.
  10. Maintain a neat, clean, and well-groomed appearance as per the team member handbook.
  11. Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisors or managers.
  12. Assist other beverage personnel as needed.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Knowledge of liquor regulations regarding minors and intoxicated guests.
  • Hold a current Food Handler Card.
  • Basic knowledge of food and beverage service, including alcoholic beverages.
  • Basic math skills for operating cash registers, making change, and handling charges.
  • Basic English writing skills for requisitions and vouchers.
  • Sufficient manual dexterity for garnishing, handling glassware, and stock retrieval.
  • Basic English communication skills to understand inquiries and give instructions.
  • Ability to follow written product instructions safely.
  • Ability to remember and promote menu items.
  • Ability to operate beverage equipment like coffee makers.
Physical Demands
  • Transport up to 30 lbs. frequently through crowded areas.
  • Lift a maximum of 30 lbs.
  • Constant standing and walking; frequent twisting, bending, reaching, and other physical activities.
