Job description

Initial Cut‑Off Date: Tuesday, January 27, 2026 (Applications must be received by 11:59 PM EST). Applications received by the Initial Cut‑Off Date will be reviewed and possibly referred to the Selecting Official PRIOR to the Closing Date of this Vacancy Announcement. Subsequent referrals to the Hiring Manager will occur every two weeks thereafter based on management's need to fill positions.

This position is open to U.S. Citizens and non‑U.S. Nationals who have resided in the U.S. or U.S. territory for three (3) or more continuous years immediately preceding the start of Federal affiliation.

Responsibilities
  • Set up bars for operation, obtain cash bank, and stock service bar. Ensure an adequate stock level is maintained, and set up storeroom and work area to permit easy access to stock items.
  • Prepare a limited variety of simple alcoholic beverages as requested by patrons and wait staff.
  • Record sales and make change or prepare charge slips. Keep bar and work area clean and sanitary.
  • Identify persons who become unruly or appear intoxicated, resolve the problem or seek assistance in accordance with established procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Conditions of Employment
  • Direct Deposit and Social Security Card required.
  • Meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
  • A one‑year probationary period may be required.
  • Must satisfactorily complete an employment verification (E‑Verify) check.
  • A Medical Examination is required; physical effort includes regularly lifting and carrying items weighing up to 20 pounds, occasionally lifting and carrying items weighing up to 40 pounds, and standing for prolonged periods.
  • Position is dual‑compensation exempt; all GS and NAF employees, whether full time or part time, are eligible to apply.
  • Satisfactory completion of a minimum of 4 hours of initial food sanitation and safety training is required within 30 days of employment and a minimum of 4 hours annual refresher training.
  • Work hours may involve weekday, weekend, holiday, and night duty.
  • This position is eligible to receive gratuities (tips) based on the type of event(s) and performance.
Qualifications

  • Resume should clearly demonstrate relevant experience, skills, knowledge, and abilities as they pertain to this position.
  • Meet state/local age requirements for the serving of alcohol at the time of appointment.
  • Be able to lift and carry weights up to 20 pounds.
  • Possess math skills necessary to calculate patron bills and take inventory.
  • Skill in mixing and serving alcoholic and non‑alcoholic beverages.
  • Skill in mixing drinks using alcoholic beverages, beer, and soda.
  • Apply arithmetic in calculating bills and making change.
  • Ability to recognize intoxicated and unruly patrons.
Highly Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience working as a full‑service bartender in a restaurant and/or catering facility.
