Job summary

US Air Mobility Command at McConnell AFB in Wichita seeks a beverage service professional to mix and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks from a full-service bar. This NAF position is based at the Bowling Center on base and requires attentiveness to guest service and safety.

Open to all applicants. You must meet eligibility and background requirements, complete required training, and be able to lift up to 40 pounds and perform cash-handling duties as part of daily bar operations.

About the position

This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Bowling Center on McConnell AFB. The purpose of this position is to mix and serve alcoholic and nonalcoholic beverages from a full-service bar.

In order to qualify

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if the position allows for qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application.

Qualifying Experience

Qualifying Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs): Must have experience mixing alcoholic beverages for retail sale, which includes knowledge of a wide variety of beverages and ability to combine ingredients such as liquors, soda water, sugar, bitters, and fruit and the ability to mix exotic drinks. Must be able to recognize intoxicated or unruly patrons and to resolve the problem or seek assistance if needed. Must be able to follow cash handling procedures. Must be physically able to frequently lift objects weighing 5 to 15 pounds, pull and push objects weighing 10 to 20 pounds, and occasionally lift up to and over 40 pounds. Ability to communicate clearly and possess skill in dealing with public.

Conditions of Employment

Must be able to satisfactorily complete a pre-employment physical. Must meet the appropriate minimum age requirement for working with and/or serving alcoholic beverages. Must be able to obtain a Food Handler's Certificate and/or complete food handler's training. Successful completion and favorable adjudication of applicable background investigation (Tier 1 Level) is required.
