Qualifications

  • RASS or TIPS Certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment.
  • California Responsible Beverage Service Training required upon hire.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • 5+ years of related experience and/or training.
  • High volume bar experience is required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Beverage Management with training team members on policies and procedures.
  • Take orders from casino floor, servers, and guests.
  • Present and describe menus, make recommendations, answer questions about ingredients.
  • Enter orders into POS system and handle cash per policy.
  • Mix and serve cocktails and other beverages with garnishes.
  • Prepare garnishes and maintain bar stock and cleanliness.
  • Promote beverages and company services to increase sales.
  • Maintain knowledge of wines, beers, and liquors and promote responsible drinking.
  • Ensure compliance with all laws, policies, and procedures.
  • Attend meetings and training sessions as required.

Job SummaryUnder general supervision, the Bartender III is responsible for positive guest interactions while accurately mixing and serving intricate beverages to guests and servers in an efficient and entertaining manner. In addition, the Bartender III will assist Beverage Management with training of team members on work duties and departmental policies and procedures.Job Description• Assists the Beverage Management with providing training to team members on departmental policies and procedures, and completes and submits all training paperwork as required. • Takes food and beverage orders from casino floor, servers, and guests. • Presents and describes food and drink menus in detail, makes recommendations using guest personal preferences, and answers any questions regarding ingredients and preparation. • Suggestively sells by upgrading to premium liquors/drinks. • Enters orders into POS system, performs cash handling transaction prescribed in the organization policies and procedures. • Pours and serves wine, champagne, bottled or draft beer, and non-alcoholic beverages with proper garnishes. • Mixes liquor, juice, soda, water, fruit, sugar and other ingredients to prepare complex cocktails and other beverages by not using a recipe book. • Takes drink off of the menu and tailor to guests’ preference/taste. • Delivers completed orders to guests and wish them a happy meal. • Assists the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies. • Prepares garnishes for drinks. • Properly stocks and rotates liquor, beer, wine, and garnishes in bar area. • Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to support efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages. • Works with managers to improve business results (sales and profit) through increasing efficiency, reducing costs and minimizing waste. • Reports all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to the manager. • Provides timely response and resolution on guest inquiries while ensuring guest satisfaction. • Notifies manager when a guest is not 100% satisfied with their experience • Maintains strong knowledge and has ability to articulate different characteristics of wines, beers and liquors offered at the bar. • Maintains knowledge of and effectively promotes company services and player’s club program. • Practices alcohol awareness and gets manager involved when necessary. • Knows the legal drinking age and procedures for asking proof of age. • Ensures closing procedures are followed for paperwork, receipts balance, and inventory count. • Understands and practices good sanitation procedures. • Keeps entire bar, lounge area, glassware, utensils, and equipment clean and organized through the shift. • Ensures that a clean, safe, hazard-free work environment is maintained. • Attends all schedule team member meetings and trainings; brings suggestions for improvement. • Complies with company and departmental policies and standard operating procedures, applicable governmental laws and regulations. • Performs other duties as assigned. • Does not provide supervision to other team members. • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). • Food Handler’s Certificate required. • RASS or TIPS Certification of alcohol awareness program must be obtained within 30 days of employment and maintain current certification. • California Responsible Beverage Service Training and Certification required upon hire. • Must be 21 years of age or older. • 5 or more years of related experience and/or training. • High volume bar experience is required. • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communications skills. • Demonstrate proficiency in cash handling. • Strong customer service skills. • Strong knowledge of bar operations, service procedures and function. • Strong knowledge of beer, wine, liquor, and common drink recipes. • Ability to follow intricate drink recipes with precision. • Ability to create a cocktail based on a guests preferred flavor profile. • Uses showmanship to enhance the overall guest experience. • Must possess an outgoing, positive attitude and work well with other team members. • Ability to multitask and must maintain high personal grooming standard. • Ability to work in a fast paced, high activity environment. • Must be flexible to work different shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays.Hiring PreferenceThe Viejas Band of Kumeyaay Indians is an equal opportunity employer.
