Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels in New York seeks an experienced bartender to provide exceptional bar service, prepare beverages, and manage inventory with a strong emphasis on guest satisfaction.

The role requires 2+ years in bartending or barback work, TIPS and Food Handling certificates, and excellent English. Flexibility for variable hours and weekends is essential for success in this dynamic hotel environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 21 years old.
• 2+ years of experience as a bartender or barback.
• Food Handling Certificate.
• TIPS certification.
• Proficient in English (spoken and written).
• Strong math, organization, and multitasking skills.
• Able to lift to 25 lbs. or more and stand for 8-10 hours.
• Experience with POS and basic computer systems.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests, take orders, and serve drinks and food using upselling techniques.
• Prepare beverages per recipe, including cocktails, coffee drinks, and wine service.
• Manage bar setup, cleanliness, restocking, and closing duties.
• Maintain inventory levels, track usage, place orders, and monitor waste.
• Ensure compliance with liquor laws, health regulations, and safety standards.
• Operate POS system, handle payments, and perform accurate cash handling duties.
• Provide guest information about menu items and hotel services.
• Handle guest complaints professionally to ensure satisfaction.
• Assist with private events, and other service areas as needed.

Anticipated Pay Range & Additional Job Information

Hourly compensation range is $20.33 - $21.58 Base pay offered may vary depending on various factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge, skills, and specific/overall experience.
