Job summary

Rancho Santa Fe Association is seeking an experienced bartender to prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages at the Club’s bar, lounge, patio, and during Member events.

Deliver refined, personalized service, maintain bar inventory and knowledge of offerings, and ensure compliance with health, safety, and California ABC regulations while collaborating closely with the service team.

Qualifications

• 2–3 years bartending in upscale setting
• RBS certification and Food Handler card, or ability to obtain
• TIPS or equivalent certification preferred
• Knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wine and beer
• Excellent guest service and communication skills
• Must be 21+ and flexible for evenings/weekends/holidays

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve cocktails, wine, beer and non‑alcoholic beverages per recipes and standards
• Maintain knowledge of wine list, spirits, and seasonal offerings for recommendations
• Check IDs and refuse service per CA ABC regulations
• Keep bar clean, organized, and stocked; perform opening/closing side work
• Process member charges via POS system accurately
• Build rapport with Members and guests, personalize service
• Provide bar service for tournaments and private events as scheduled
• Assist teammates as needed during busy periods
• Maintain health, safety and sanitation standards
• Coordinate with servers, runners, and kitchen staff for seamless service

Tuesday, September 29 from 9:00am -12:00pm and 4:00pm - 7:00pm

POSITION SUMMARY:

Responsible for the preparation and service of beverages in the Club's bar, lounge, and patio, as well as at Member events. Delivers refined, personalized service consistent with the standards of a private Member-owned club. Ensures satisfaction of all Members and guests at all times.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Prepares and serves classic and craft cocktails, wine, beer, and non-alcoholic beverages according to Club recipes and standards.
• Maintains thorough knowledge of the Club's wine list, spirits selection, and seasonal beverage offerings to make informed recommendations to Members and guests.
• Checks identification and monitors alcohol consumption, refusing service responsibly and in compliance with California ABC regulations and Club policy.
• Maintains a clean, organized, and fully stocked bar station; completes opening and closing side work, including inventory counts and requisitions.
• Accurately processes Member account charges via the Club's point-of-sale system.
• Builds genuine rapport with Members and their guests, learning names and preferences to deliver consistently personalized service.
• Provides bar service for tournaments, private events, banquets, and Member functions as scheduled.
• Because of the fluctuating demands of the Club's operation, it may be necessary that each employee perform a multitude of different duties; therefore, an essential part of the position will be to help others when the occasion arises.
• Maintains full compliance with health, safety, and sanitation standards at all times.
• Ensures all staff is in proper uniform and meets grooming standards.
• Assists in beverage inventory as needed.
• Coordinates closely with servers, food runners, and kitchen staff to ensure seamless, well-timed service.

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

• Minimum 2-3 years bartending experience in a high-volume, upscale restaurant, hotel, or private club
• Current RBS (Responsible Beverage Service) certification and Food Handler card, or ability to obtain
• TIPS or equivalent alcohol service certification preferred
• Strong working knowledge of classic and craft cocktails, spirits, wine, and beer
• Excellent communication and guest service skills
• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Flexible availability; ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays

PAY RATE:

$16.90
