Mare Island Brewing Co. Ferry Taproom in Vallejo, CA is hiring a part-time Bartender/Expo to welcome guests and manage orders with a fast-paced team. You’ll pour drinks, assist with food orders, and help maintain a clean, inviting taproom environment.

The role alternates between bartending and Expo duties, requiring strong guest service, knowledge of beer and wine, and reliable availability for evenings and weekends in a hybrid-tac role.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ years old.
• CA RBS certification within 60 days.
• CA Food Handler Card within 30 days.
• Stand/walk for extended periods and lift up to 30 lbs.
• Evenings, weekends and holidays availability; min 3 days/week with one weekend.
• Reliable transportation and punctuality.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming atmosphere in the taproom.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately using Toast POS.
• Pour and serve beer, wine, and other beverages per company standards.
• Present food and drinks in a timely, professional manner.
• Provide beer, wine, and menu recommendations to guests.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of bar, dining areas, and service stations.
• Bus and reset tables and bar-top to keep spaces inviting.
• Monitor guest needs and provide attentive service throughout visits.
• Assist with opening/closing duties including stocking and cleaning.
• Assist with cleaning and side tasks; support events as scheduled.

Employment: Part-Time

Pay: $32.00-$40.00/hr (Hourly plus pooled tip share)

About the Role:

Mare Island Brewing Co. is seeking enthusiastic, hospitality-driven team members to join our Front of House team. Our mission is to create a welcoming, energetic environment where guests can enjoy great beer, food, and company. Front of House team members are key ambassadors of the Mare Island Brewing Co. brand. This is a hybrid role with shifts alternating between Bartender and Food Expediter (Expo). As a Bartender, you will interact directly with guests, guide them through our food and beverage offerings, assist in taking and fulfilling food and beverage orders, and help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting taproom environment. As an Expo you will interact directly with guests and kitchen staff, assist in managing in-person, online, and phone order ticket flow, communicate with kitchen and guests to ensure timely and quality fulfillment of orders, and help maintain a clean, stocked, and organized workspace

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming, positive atmosphere in the taproom.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately using the POS system, Toast.
• Pour and serve beer, wine, and other beverages according to company standards.
• Present food and drinks to guests in a timely and professional manner.
• Provide knowledgeable recommendations about beer, wine, and menu items.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, dining areas, service stations, patio and beer garden.
• Bus and reset tables and bar-top to maintain a clean and inviting space for guests.
• Monitor guest needs and provide attentive, proactive service throughout their visit.
• Assist with opening and closing duties including stocking, cleaning, and preparation for service.
• Assist with daily, weekly, and as needed cleaning and side work task lists.
• Replace and tap in kegs as needed using proper lifting techniques and equipment.
• Follow all responsible alcohol service guidelines and company policies.
• Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, peer staff, shift leads, and managers to ensure smooth service.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment for both guests and team members.
• Support additional tasks as needed to ensure the overall success of the taproom.
• Work special and/or private events as they are scheduled. This may include setting up, breaking down, and/or moving tables, chairs, food buffets, linens, etc. as needed.

Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of beer and wine required; craft beer knowledge is a plus.

Requirements:

• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• Must possess or obtain within 60 days a California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification.
• Must possess or obtain within 30 days a California Food Handler Card.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time and lift up to 30lbs. when needed. Other physical requirements include bending, twisting, lifting, carrying, etc.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as these are key service times for our taproom. Minimum three (3) days a week with one being a weekend availability.
• Reliable transportation, consistent attendance, and a commitment to punctuality and preparedness for all scheduled shifts.
