Job summary

Mare Island Brewing Co. is hiring a Part-Time Server for the First Street Taphouse. You will welcome guests, guide beer selections, take orders using Toast, and help maintain a clean, efficient dining area in a fast-paced taproom.

Excellent communication and teamwork are essential as you collaborate with the kitchen and staff to ensure a smooth guest experience. This role offers an hourly wage with pooled tip share and requires weekend availability.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must obtain California RBS Certification within 60 days.
• Must obtain California Food Handler Card within 30 days.
• Stand/walk for extended periods; lift up to 30 lbs.
• Evening, weekend, and holiday availability; min 3 days including one weekend.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and direct to seating while creating a welcoming atmosphere.
• Take and fulfill food and beverage orders with Toast POS.
• Present food and drinks in a timely, professional manner.
• Provide beer, wine, and menu recommendations.
• Maintain cleanliness of bar, dining areas, and service stations.
• Bus and reset tables and bar-top between guests.
• Monitor guest needs and provide attentive service throughout visits.
• Assist with opening/closing duties including stocking and cleaning.
• Perform daily/weekly side work and cleaning tasks as required.
• Replace and tap kegs using proper lifting techniques.
• Follow responsible alcohol service guidelines and company policies.
• Collaborate with kitchen staff and management to ensure smooth service.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and inviting environment for guests and staff.
• Support special events and private bookings as needed.

Employment: Part-Time

Pay: $28.00-$36.00/hr (Hourly plus pooled tip share)

About the Role:

Mare Island Brewing Co. is seeking enthusiastic, hospitality-driven team members to join our Front of House team. Our mission is to create a welcoming, energetic environment where guests can enjoy great beer, food, and company. Front of House team members are key ambassadors of the Mare Island Brewing Co. brand. As a Server, you will interact directly with guests, guide them through our food and beverage offerings, assist in taking and fulfilling food and beverage orders, and help maintain a clean, organized, and inviting environment. We’re looking for individuals who enjoy working with people, take pride in their work, and thrive in a fast-paced hospitality setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Greet guests warmly, direct guests to seating, and create a welcoming, positive atmosphere in the taproom.
• Take food and beverage orders accurately using the POS system, Toast.
• Present food and drinks to guests in a timely and professional manner.
• Provide knowledgeable recommendations about beer, wine, and menu items.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, dining areas, service stations, and parklets.
• Bus and reset tables and bar-top to maintain a clean and inviting space for guests.
• Monitor guest needs and provide attentive, proactive service throughout their visit.
• Assist with opening and closing duties including stocking, cleaning, and preparation for service.
• Assist with daily, weekly, and as needed cleaning and side work task lists.
• Replace and tap in kegs as needed using proper lifting techniques and equipment.
• Follow all responsible alcohol service guidelines and company policies.
• Work collaboratively with kitchen staff, peer staff, shift leads, and managers to ensure smooth service.
• Help maintain a safe, clean, and professional environment for both guests and team members.
• Support additional tasks as needed to ensure the overall success of the Taphouse.
• Work special and/or private events as they are scheduled. This may include setting up, breaking down, and/or moving tables, chairs, food buffets, linens, etc. as needed.

Qualifications:

• Basic knowledge of beer and wine required; craft beer knowledge is a plus.

Requirements:

• Must be 18 years of age or older.
• Must possess or obtain within 60 days a California Responsible Beverage Service (RBS) Certification.
• Must possess or obtain within 30 days a California Food Handler Card.
• Ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time and lift up to 30lbs. when needed. Other physical requirements include walking up and down stairs, bending, twisting, lifting, carrying, etc.
• Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as these are key service times for our taproom. Minimum three (3) days a week with one being a weekend availability.
• Reliable transportation, consistent attendance, and a commitment to punctuality and preparedness for all scheduled shifts.
