Bartender (Food Services)

The Bartender is responsible for maintaining the bar area, serving patrons at the bar, and filling drink orders for the dining room. The role requires extensive knowledge of liquor, mixed drinks, beer, and wine. The bartender should think quickly, be aware of surroundings, and monitor patrons for signs of intoxication.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Greet guests warmly and create a welcoming atmosphere
• Take accurate food and drink orders
• Mix ingredients, garnish glasses, and serve beverages
• Check identification to verify legal drinking age
• Process payments accurately and balance the register
• Maintain inventory and order supplies as needed
• Plan drink menus and inform customers of specials
• Work overtime when required
• Perform other duties as assigned by the manager

Safety and Environmental Responsibilities

• Follow SHM safety and environmental protocols and complete related training
• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment
• Report accidents, injuries, spills, and near misses immediately

Technical and Physical Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Previous bartending experience required
• TIPs certification preferred
• Customer service experience preferred
• Knowledge of spirits and beverages
• Minimum age to serve alcohol as per state law
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds
