Position: Bartender B

Summary:

The Bartender is responsible for greeting customers, taking drink/food orders, mixing ingredients such as liquor, soda, water, and sugar to prepare cocktails and other drinks, serving beer and other beverages, and completing transactions. The role involves communicating ticket times and potential issues to the manager on duty and servers, providing high-quality service, and performing other duties as directed by management. This is a non-exempt position, typically reporting to the Store Manager, Assistant Store Manager, or General Manager depending on local requirements.

Essential Functions:

1. Greets customers, takes food and beverage orders, provides product information, and looks for upselling opportunities.
2. Follows recipes and/or product directions for mixing beverages.
3. Collects payments and operates cash registers following company policies; secures all monies at shift end.
4. Follows alcohol awareness procedures to prevent intoxication and manages intoxicated guests.
5. Adheres to HMSHost customer service, adult beverage, and cash handling policies and procedures.
6. Ensures the bar is clean, sanitized, and well-stocked.

Minimum Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Work Environment:

1. Must meet state minimum age for serving alcohol.
2. At least 1 year of related bartending experience; experience in high-volume or fast-casual environments preferred.
3. Knowledge of beer, wine, spirits, and beverage preparation; stay updated on new recipes.
4. Ability to interact positively with the public and coworkers.
5. Ability to read, understand instructions, and communicate effectively.
6. Ability to lift/move up to 40 pounds.
7. Cash handling and customer service experience preferred.
8. Frequent immersion of hands in water and chemical solutions.
