Job summary

Hook & Reel, a fast-paced Cajun seafood brand in the U.S., is hiring a Bartender in Livonia, MI. You will craft drinks, engage guests, and ensure a lively, welcoming bar experience that complements our dining service.

Ideal candidates bring at least 1 year of bartending experience, valid food and alcohol handler certifications, and strong communication under pressure. A POS system is preferred, and flexibility for evenings, weekends, and holidays is required.

Qualifications

  • 1+ years of bartending experience.
  • Hold a valid State-Mandated Food Handlers Certification, ensuring compliance with health and safety standards (where applicable).
  • Hold a valid State-Mandated Alcohol Handlers Certification, ensuring compliance with local regulatory authority health and safety standards (where applicable).
  • Point-of-Sale systems experience preferred.
  • Strong communication and a passion for delivering world-class service at every touchpoint.
  • Work well under pressure.

Responsibilities

  • Greet all guests promptly and warmly upon arrival.
  • Answer guest questions regarding the menu and Hook & Reel brand.
  • Provide accurate information regarding menu, pricing, hours, promotions, and policies.
  • Consistently create drinks to ensure quality of beverages.
  • Assist with side work and opening/closing tasks.
  • Clean and organize the bar to maintain clear sightlines.
  • Inform management of guest concerns and special requests.
  • Demonstrate a positive, energetic hospitality-focused attitude.

ROLE OVERVIEW

As a Bartender at Hook & Reel, you are a part of the warm and welcoming environment for the guests. You will be instrumental in helping to create a smooth and enjoyable dining experience. This position is perfect for someone who loves interacting with people and thrives in a lively, fast-paced environment.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Greet all guests promptly and warmly upon arrival.
  • Answer guest questions regarding the menu and Hook & Reel brand.
  • Provide accurate information regarding menu, pricing, hours, promotions, and policies.
  • Consistently create drinks to make sure that each guest receives the same quality of beverage both alcoholic and non-alcoholic.
  • Assist with side work and opening/closing tasks.
  • Clean and organize the bar to ensure that sightlines remain clear.
  • Ensure guest satisfaction by providing quality service and checking in regularly throughout the dining experience.
  • Inform management of special requests or guest concerns.
  • Maintain a positive, energetic, and hospitality-focused attitude at all times.
  • Multi-task and balance between bar and dining room orders.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of classic cocktails in order to properly execute guests’ drink orders.
  • Be a team player, assisting other team members whenever needed to ensure guest satisfaction.
  • Thank guests as they leave and invite them to return.
  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
  • Ability to stand and walk for extended periods (up to 8–10 hours per shift).
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 25–50 pounds.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and repetitive movements in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work in varying conditions, including heat, cold, and noise.
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Essential Functions:
  • 1+ years of bartending experience.
