Join Our Team as a Bartender at Truth Be Told!

We’re seeking an enthusiastic Bartender who is passionate about the art of hospitality and thrives on creating memorable guest experiences. The ideal candidate shares our appreciation for the thoughtful, inviting spirit of a tavern—someone who takes pride in building connections, crafting exceptional drinks, and being part of a space that feels like a home away from home.

Truth Be Told, located inside The Study at University of Chicago, is inspired by the warmth and camaraderie of traditional British taverns. Designed as a comfortable and welcoming gathering place, it’s where guests can relax, connect, and enjoy exceptional food and drink in a thoughtful, well-crafted space.

Hourly rate: $19 + tips

Key Responsibilities:

• Create a warm and inviting bar experience that reflects the charm and comfort of a traditional British tavern
• Provide exceptional hospitality through attentive and personalized service, ensuring every guest feels valued
• Prepare classic and innovative cocktails while offering expert recommendations on beer, wine, and spirits
• Foster a relaxed yet refined atmosphere where guests can connect and enjoy themselves
• Maintain an in-depth understanding of our menu and beverage offerings, staying curious and informed
• Ensure the bar and lounge areas are clean, organized, and inviting
• Collaborate with team members to uphold the high standards of Truth Be Told and The Study at University of Chicago
  
  

Qualifications:

• Education: High school diploma or GED preferred. Experience: 2+ years of bartending experience in fine dining, upscale casual, or similar environments
• A passion for service and a genuine love of hospitality, with an emphasis on creating memorable experiences
• Friendly, engaging personality with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Strong knowledge of cocktails, beer, and wine, with a willingness to continually learn and improve
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail and care
• Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 40 lbs
• Proficiency in English; additional language skills are a plus
• Food handlers and Basset certificates
