Job summary

The role requires 3+ years of bartending experience in fine dining or high-volume settings, valid Food Handlers and RBS cards, and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Reconcile transactions at end of shift and balance cash drawer.
• Thorough knowledge of all cocktails and wine lists to assist guests accurately.
• Prepare drinks to recipe standards and maintain quality control.
• Greet guests, take beverage orders and upsell where appropriate.
• Keep bar and surrounding area clean, organized, and stocked with supplies.
• Stock bar essentials including juices, mixers, beer, wine, liquor, and glassware.
• Cut and stock garnishes; ensure proper glassware handling and cleanliness.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and alcohol service laws and regulations.

Description

Position Summary: The Bartender is responsible for providing prompt and courteous service to all bar guests, including taking orders, suggestive selling, preparing and serving beverages, and clearing tables. The Bartender must continually seek opportunities to create memories by anticipating needs, exceeding expectations, and building relationships.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Reconcile transactions at the end of each shift, cash out, and maintain a balanced bank.
• Be thoroughly familiar with all menu cocktails and wine list to assist guests and answer questions accurately.
• Complete bar requisitions thoroughly and with business levels in mind.
• Ensure lounge/bar area is always clean and in order, including bar, tables, chairs, floors, walls, and décor.
• Stock juice, mixers, soft drinks, beer, wine, liquor, and paper/plastic supplies.
• Clean and stock glassware.
• Cut and stock garnishes.
• Ensure sequence of service is followed for all guests.
• Greet guests, take beverage orders, and suggestive sell.
• Prepare drinks to recipe standard.
• Follow all food safety, sanitation, and alcohol service laws and regulations.
• Ensure a healthy and safe work environment for co-workers and guests.
• Resolve guest complaints using property procedures.
• Participate in pre-shift meetings on each shift.
• Always smile and offer a warm greeting to all.
• Communicate with supervisors and managers to ensure that assigned duties are completed to standard.
• Review and develop guest history records to enhance personalized service for repeat guests.
• Maintain confidentiality of guest, employee, and company information.
• Any other duties assigned.

Requirements

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to stand, walk, lift, and bend for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to bend and lift up to 40 lbs.
• Role may include job duties or tasks requiring repetitive motions.
• Exposure to hot kitchen elements or cleaning materials.
• Must be able to prepare bar garnishes safely and properly.

Skills/Experience:

• At least 3+ years of experience working as a bartender in fine dining and/or high volume bars. Experience at a membership-based company a plus.
• Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers and staff, some of whom will require elevated levels of patience, tact, and diplomacy.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
• Must have valid, non-expired Food Handlers’ and Responsible Beverage Service cards.
