Reports to Restaurant Manager; position is non-exempt.
THE ROLE
The Head Bartender reports to the F&B Managers and works in a team environment with other F&B professionals, including barbacks, bartenders, servers, dishwashers, cooks, and chefs. It is critical that the person in this position possesses a background in advanced bartending techniques, has a natural ability to manage time, and possesses extensive knowledge of beverages and cocktails.
As a bartender, you will be responsible for creating memorable guest experiences, ensuring the timely and friendly delivery of food and drinks. In-depth menu knowledge is necessary to serve guests with allergies and restrictions safely. Ongoing beverage tasting and training will allow you to expand your knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits. You will also be responsible for creating and hosting classes related to these beverages. Additionally, you will have the opportunity to collaborate on seasonal menus.

- Participate in daily line-ups and quarterly all-staff meetings to develop ideas and objectives with the service team, providing constructive feedback and strategizing to improve opportunities.
- Assist in all aspects of the F&B guest experience, from greeting guests in an inviting environment to ensuring bar supplies are stocked and requests are executed promptly, maintaining guest satisfaction throughout.
- Work in an organized and clean manner, respecting guests, peers, equipment, and workspace to create lasting impressions and strong relationships.
- Use steps of service to provide professional service, exceeding guest expectations, serving alcohol safely, responsibly, and legally, and utilizing recipes and tools to create consistent cocktails and bases.
- Maintain knowledge of menus, ingredients, and availability; serve alcohol responsibly and legally; accurately handle monetary transactions during shifts.
- Share extensive beverage knowledge with guests, enhancing their experience with add-ons and basic culinary terms, continuously studying to improve craft.
- Observe physical facilities' conditions and report challenges to leadership for corrections and improvements.
- Communicate effectively with the F&B and Culinary teams to ensure timely delivery of food and beverages.
- Assist in other F&B areas as needed, including Banquets, Bar, Café, In-Room Dining, Pool, and Restaurants.
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- Passion for community, restaurant service, and guest experience.
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a bartender in a restaurant or hotel bar.
- TiPS Alcohol Service Certification and SafeStaff Certificate or ability to obtain within 30 days.
- Must meet local age requirements for alcohol service.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Fluency in English, both verbal and non-verbal.
- Ability to stand and walk for most of a shift, negotiating wet floors and steps.
- Fine motor skills for pouring, decorating, and setting up.
- Ability to move tables and chairs, carry items, and handle physical tasks up to specified weights.
- Ability to work in extreme temperatures, such as freezers (-10°C).
