Job summary

The Upper Room ATL in Atlanta seeks a friendly barista/bartender to craft espresso drinks, brew coffee, mix cocktails, and engage guests with menu knowledge.

You’ll work afternoons/evenings and weekends, keep the bar clean, operate Square, and contribute to a welcoming, community-focused café/bar concept with hands-on training in coffee and cocktails. This role offers growth opportunities and a supportive team atmosphere.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a barista, bartender, or both preferred.
• Strong understanding of espresso preparation and/or cocktail fundamentals.
• Ability to multitask and stay calm during busy shifts.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Afternoons, evenings, weekends, or holidays availability.
• Must meet local legal requirements for alcohol service.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve espresso drinks, brewed coffee, matcha, and other non-alcoholic beverages.
• Dial in espresso, steam milk properly, and maintain consistency across drinks.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the coffee station.
• Engage guests with menu knowledge and thoughtful recommendations.
• Prepare and serve cocktails, beer, wine, and spirits according to recipes and standards.
• Execute signature cocktails (including espresso martinis) with speed and accuracy.
• Verify guest age and comply with all alcohol service laws.
• Maintain bar cleanliness, organization, and stock levels.
• Provide warm, attentive, and professional customer service at all times.
• Operate Square POS system.
• Assist with opening and closing duties.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Restock supplies and assist with inventory as needed.
• Support cocktail classes and special events when scheduled.
