Job summary

HHS is seeking a friendly barista to join the culinary team at Bon Secours St Marys Hospital of Richmond. You will handle register duties in the hospital cafeteria and ensure fast, courteous service to patients and guests.

Shifts include day, evening and night with competitive wages. You will maintain a clean, organized service area and follow food-safety standards while preparing espresso drinks and bakery items.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Communicate effectively in English and work well in a team environment.
• Must practice good personal hygiene and be neatly groomed in a uniform.
• Preferred: Culinary experience (cook, commercial kitchen, healthcare).

Responsibilities

• Cater to all customer needs and treat every customer with respect, friendliness, and a smile.
• Balance the cash drawer and discuss discrepancies with management.
• Stock and monitor supply levels of condiments, utensils, and grab-and-go items.
• Monitor temperatures for the tray line and maintain temperature logs.
• Keep the cafeteria clean and organized at all times, including emptying trash cans.
• Vacuum, sweep, mop, and spot clean to maintain floor and high-traffic areas.
• Assist team members and management as needed to help the department operate efficiently.
• Prepare Specialty Drinks: Handcraft espresso beverages, teas, lattes, cold brews, and seasonal drinks according to standard recipes and customer specifications.
• Operate Coffee Equipment: Master the use of commercial espresso machines, coffee grinders, blenders, and milk frothers while adjusting grind sizes and extraction times for optimal flavor.
• Serve Food Items: Heat, plate, and serve pastries, sandwiches, and bakery items, maintaining proper food safety standards.
