Job summary

The Barnett Hotel in New Orleans is hiring a full-time Barista to craft coffee, espresso drinks, teas, and light fare while delivering warm, efficient service. You will take guest orders, handle cash and POS transactions, and keep the café clean and stocked for daily operations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Prior barista, café, or food service experience preferred.
• Hospitality or customer service experience a plus.
• Knowledge of coffee preparation, espresso machines, and beverage recipes.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Basic math and cash-handling skills.
• Knowledge of sanitation, safety, and food-handling procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, teas, smoothies, and other beverages.

• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the café, barista station, and equipment.
• Restock ingredients, cups, utensils, pastries, and merchandise.
• Follow standard recipes and portion controls to ensure product consistency.
• Engage warmly with guests, answer questions, and offer recommendations.
• Monitor inventory levels and notify management of supply needs.
• Adhere to all food safety, sanitation, and company standards.
• Assist with opening and closing procedures.
