Description

Job Summary: The Barista is responsible for serving all products with friendly and individualized attention towards each customer. They educate customers about our premium coffees and teas, and fulfill duties assigned by Store Management, representing The Coffee Bean & Tea Leaf professionally.

Essential Job Functions

• Sells and serves products courteously and friendly
• Participates in sales promotions effectively
• Handles hot and cold drinks safely during preparation
• Follows standard operating procedures for recipes and menu items
• Receives and calls back customer orders in a friendly manner
• Uses headsets for drive-thru order taking
• Handles cash transactions on POS and registers
• Reports customer complaints to the manager
• Proactively responds to customer service situations
• Accurately rings sales and gives change courteously
• Answers phone courteously, provides store info, and takes orders
• Answers questions about coffee blends and preparation
• Weighs, grinds, and packs coffee as per guidelines
• Sells baked goods and food items
• Maintains friendly and efficient service standards
• Restocks shelves as needed
• Performs cleaning duties regularly
• Assists with weekly shipments
• Reports safety hazards and accidents
• Informs management of operational issues
• Promotes company philosophy and culture
• Ensures product quality and standards
• Follows all recipes and procedures
• Completes monthly re-certifications
• Maintains store visual standards
• Assists in training new team members
• Supports positive morale and safety compliance

Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Organized and detail-oriented
• Experience with register and cash handling
• Flexible availability including nights, weekends, and holidays

Education and Experience:

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Experience in retail, specialty store, or food service preferred

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for long periods
• Occasional sitting and working on a computer
• Lift at least 50 pounds with assistance if needed
• Read and verify information visually
• Move quickly and reach overhead or below knees
• Flexibility in wrist for various motions
