The Ahern Hotel & Convention Center is seeking a Barista to join our team!SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIESThe Barista is responsible for providing outstanding beverage & food service to guests in an upscale environment.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSGreets guests in an upbeat, positive, friendly manner and making them feel welcome.Take and input orders and receive payment and make proper change, completing all required transactions.Prepare and serve beverage and food items to guests.Operate a commercial coffee/expresso machine making specialty beverages.Bid farewell to guests, using guest’s name when known, and encourage them to return.Routinely cleans all kitchen equipment and dispose of trash daily.Consistently follow sequence of service utilizing proper procedures standardized by department.Itemize bills correctly and efficiently secure payment.Expedite the order in an accurate and timely manner.Pack the orders per guests’ preference and complete the order with any necessary condiments.Perform all opening and closing duties based upon shift assignment.Refill and stock supplies and machines within the outlet.Maintain the cleanliness of all the front and back of house areas within the outlet.Unload warehouse orders and stocking the orders to designated storage.Work as a team, assisting all guests’ and employees’ needs and inquiries.Maintain health code standards.Perform cashier duties for the gift shop.Perform all other job-related duties as requested.REQUIRED EXPERIENCEMinimum one (1) year of experience in a similar role preferred.Ability to make specialty beverages according to recipes.Excellent customer service skills.Ability to use a Point of Sales (POS) system and handle cash & credit card transactions.Working knowledge of accepted standards of sanitation.Ability to multi-task with attention to detail.Ability to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.High School Diploma or equivalent.Must possess, or are able to obtain, a Health Card from the Southern Nevada Health District.PHYSICAL REQUIRMENTSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls, reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell.
