Description:
Barista at MercyOne Starbucks.
Operate related equipment: cappuccino machine, coffee grinder, coffee brewers, blender, and convection oven.
Responsible for opening and closing duties.
Handle cash register operations and money handling procedures.
Prepare hot and cold foods for retail sales.
Set up for café sales by stocking food and paper products.
Follow food safety codes and standards set by federal, state, local, and accreditation agencies.
Check food temperatures regularly during the shift, document, and notify supervisor of any out-of-compliance issues.
Monitor temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, and heating units; document and report issues.
Maintain cleanliness and order of refrigeration units, complying with food safety regulations.
Requisition and transport foods and supplies to replenish inventory.
Inspect items for integrity, rotate stock, and dispose of outdated or substandard products.
Properly wrap, label, and date food items.
Prepare beverages such as coffee, juice, and smoothies; clean beverage machines and areas.
Keep work areas, equipment, and storage areas clean and sanitized.
Maintain signage daily.
Follow proper cleaning procedures, store chemicals safely, and use PPE as needed.
Practice safety procedures, use tools and equipment properly, and report hazards.
Provide effective customer service and contribute to performance improvement.
Use standardized recipes and ingredients to prepare foods.
Assist in other areas as needed.
Must pass barista training within 2 months of hire.
High school diploma or GED preferred; ability to perform calculations and communicate effectively.
Ability to read and write.
Experience in restaurant or food service operations preferred.
