• Operate related equipment such as cappuccino machines, coffee grinders, coffee brewers, blenders, and convection ovens.
• Perform opening and closing duties.
• Handle cash register operation and money handling procedures.
• Prepare hot and cold foods for retail sales.
• Follow food safety codes and standards set by federal, state, local, and accreditation agencies.
• Check and document food temperatures throughout the shift; notify supervisor of any out-of-compliance issues.
• Monitor and document temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, and heating units; report issues immediately.
• Maintain cleanliness and order in refrigeration units, ensuring compliance with food codes.
• Replenish inventory by requisitioning and transporting foods and supplies.
• Inspect items for quality, rotate stock, and dispose of outdated or substandard products.
• Properly wrap, label, and date food items.
• Prepare beverages such as coffee, juice, and smoothies; clean and maintain beverage machines and areas.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of work areas, equipment, and utensils following proper procedures and safety guidelines.
• Practice safety procedures, use PPE, and report hazards or equipment failures.
• Provide excellent customer service and contribute to performance improvement.
• Use standardized and non-standardized recipes to prepare foods.
• Assist in other areas as needed.
• Complete barista training within 2 months of hire.
• High school diploma or GED preferred; ability to read and write; experience in restaurant or food service preferred.
