Job summary

Cooper Consolidated, LLC is seeking a dependable laborer to support unloading and loading barges along the lower Mississippi River region. You will work outdoors, on water-adjacent sites, and participate in daily pre-shift safety meetings, inspections, and documentation.

Responsibilities include coordinating with dispatch, performing inspections, delivering supplies to fleet boats, and maintaining barge equipment.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience: None required; preferred 1 year in an industrial environment with a dependable work record.
• Must be able to meet physical demands and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with dispatch and perform daily inspections and maintenance within the barge fleet.
• Work up to 10 hours per day, with longer hours as needed by business needs and season.
• Participate in the company Safety Program and attend daily pre-shift meetings.
• Complete documentation timely, accurately and legibly; collect boat logs and submit to dispatch.
• Deliver supplies to fleet boats and ensure access to the boat(s).
• Perform weekly inspections of anchor chains and dead man blocks.
• Inspect new barges for leaks or damage; repair or replace buoys, lines, and other rigging as needed.
• Assist in housekeeping and coordinate with other fleets for moving rigging.
• Maintain inventory of rigging items and provide information to dispatch.
