Job summary

Austin Industrial is seeking a Coker Dock Worker to load chemicals, assist with barge operations, and monitor loading processes at the dock. The role requires coordination with deck crew and operators to ensure safe, efficient barge handling.

Applicants should have 3-5 years in an industrial setting and must be able to meet safety, quality, and productivity expectations. This is a full-time on-site position based in Chalmette, LA.

Qualifications

• Education – no minimum education requirements.
• Experience – 3-5 years experience in an Industrial setting preferred.
• Must meet safety, quality, and productivity expectations.
• Ability to sit, stand, walk, and lift up to 50 pounds as needed.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the barge swap out with the fleet which is handling the barge to place it at the dock.
• Inspect all ropes, bits, and cables which will be sued to tie off the barge.
• Communicate with the deck hand or Captain of the vessel to let them know where to place the empty barge.
• Communicate with the room operator to payout the winch until enough slack has been deemed appropriate to hook up the winch cable to the empty barge.
• Inspect the barge for any damage, leaks or contaminants.
• Escort third party surveyor onto the barge to survey the draft of the empty barge.
• Control conveyors to account for proper loading of barge.
• Assist control room operator with positioning of barge to prevent sinking.
• Monitor condition of barge while loading.
• Other duties as assigned.
