Job summary

Evans Hotels’ Lodge at Torrey Pines in La Jolla hosts a Barback position with evening shifts. The role supports the bartender for a welcoming guest experience at a fine dining resort restaurant, A.R. Valentien, within The Lodge at Torrey Pines.

Candidates should have 3–12 months of bar-related experience, be available on weekends/holidays, and be ready for certification training in California. Benefits align with Evans Hotels standards.

Qualifications

• 3–12 months of relevant Barback experience.
• Previous hotel or similar property experience preferred.
• Weekend and holiday availability required.
• San Diego County Food Handler certification upon hire; training provided.
• RBS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist bartender in the set-up of bar area.
• Ensure sufficient equipment is on hand for service.
• Know brands of liquor and spirits available in the bar.
• Stock and restock bar glassware, utensils and supplies.
• Maintain clean and organized bar pantries and work areas.
• Safe, accurate and temperature-controlled storage of products.
• Slice and pit fruit for garnishes.
• Check in with bartender for function details (type, headcount).
• Perform additional duties as directed by leadership.
