Job description

POSITION OVERVIEW

The Bar Porter is a support role within a bar or nightclub setting, responsible for assisting bartenders and maintaining the cleanliness and organization of the bar area. This role contributes to the smooth operation of the bar by ensuring that supplies are readily available and the bar environment remains clean and inviting for guests.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following and other duties may be assigned as necessary:

  • Assist bartenders in preparing and serving beverages to customers, ensuring a high level of accuracy and efficiency in drink orders
  • Monitor beverage inventory levels, restock bar supplies, and ensure that all necessary items are readily available for smooth operations
  • Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the service bar area, including the bar top, glassware, utensils, and surrounding areas. This involves regular cleaning, sanitization, and tidying up during and after service hours
  • Collect used glassware, sanitize them properly, and restock them for immediate use, following the established safety and hygiene protocols
  • Properly dispose of waste and recyclable materials in designated receptacles, ensuring a clean and presentable service bar area at all times
  • Greet and interact with guests in a friendly and professional manner, providing assistance and answering their inquiries regarding beverages, promotions, and other casino-related information
  • Adhere to all safety and health regulations, including the handling of hazardous materials and ensuring that all safety protocols are followed
  • Collaborate with bartenders and other bar porters to maintain a cohesive and efficient service environment, supporting one another to provide exceptional service to guests
  • Follow all casino policies and procedures, including age verification for guests and responsible alcohol service guidelines
  • Be available to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with varying schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Temporary or permanent duties and responsibilities may be added to or modified as deemed necessary

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent qualification.
  • Previous experience as a bar porter, barback, or similar role in a hospitality setting is preferred
  • Knowledge of various beverage types, glassware, and bar equipment is a plus
  • Precise execution of tasks, such as glassware polishing and garnish preparation
  • Ability to maintain a clean and organized workspace and storage areas.
  • Strong physical stamina to handle lifting, carrying, and standing for extended periods
  • Collaborate effectively with the bar and service team during busy operations
  • Adaptability to work efficiently in a fast-paced and dynamic bar or nightclub setting
  • Proactive approach to keeping the bar area organized and well-stocked
  • Familiarity with basic cleaning practices and sanitation standards
  • Ability to adapt to changing tasks and priorities as needed
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact positively with guests and members
  • Demonstrated attention to detail and a proactive approach to tasks and responsibilities
  • Familiarity with safety and health regulations related to alcohol service is a plus
  • Must be willing and able to work a flexible schedule to include nights, holidays, and weekends
  • Work in a fast-paced, busy, and somewhat stressful environment

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Member must be able to qualify for licenses and permits required by federal, state, and local regulations.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents in English, such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to read and communicate verbally in English. Written communication skills in English may also be required.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

The Member must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds, and must have the ability to push, pull, reach, bend, twist, stoop, stack, crouch, kneel and balance when performing job duties in varying work areas such as confined spaces.
