Job summary

General Mills is seeking a Bars Innovation Technologist to design and execute experiments from bench to pilot plant and full-scale manufacturing, collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive new bar concepts for Nature Valley, Motts, and Larabar.

The ideal candidate will lead project portions, build technical expertise, manage analytical studies, and contribute to pipeline development while maintaining rigorous quality and safety standards.

Qualifications

• High school diploma plus 3 years related experience or bachelor’s degree.
• Willingness to travel about 10% with some travel to Canada.
• Experience of working in teams to deliver results.
• Basic digital technology skills.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
• Comfortable in processing (pilot plant or plant) environment.
• Good communication skills.
• Basic understanding of food safety and human safety.
• Ability to adapt to a highly dynamic work environment.

Responsibilities

• Design, coordinate and execute experiments from bench top to full scale manufacturing, including consumer testing; analyze experimental data and extract learning.
• Build technical expertise in a specific area (bench top process, etc.).
• Build and leverage internal and external network to support and execute work; lead portions of project work.
• Participate in pipeline building activities.
• Provide broad support to a specific project and support prototyping efforts for pipeline projects.
• Lead team-specific projects to drive process improvements/efficiencies.
• Teach/train others.
• Connect and collaborate within cross functional teams.
• Create product specifications and documentation.
• Manage analytical, shelf-life, and sensory evaluation.
