Job summary

USANA Health Sciences is seeking an innovative, collaborative scientist to lead formulation projects for bars, powders, and RTD beverages. You will guide scale-up, mentor junior staff, and partner across R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing to drive commercialization.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, experimental design, and constant communication to deliver science-backed products. A hybrid work model includes regular in-office time in Salt Lake City.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, chemistry, chemical engineering, or pharmaceutical Sciences.
• 5-8 years of formulation and product development experience within the food space.
• Solid formulation development skills and experimental design knowledge.
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills.
• Proven ability to lead multiple projects and collaborate across functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead multiple projects through their lifecycle, ensuring alignment with objectives and quality standards.
• Design and oversee advanced formulation or process development activities.
• Create and revise formulations for bars, powdered beverages, and RTD beverages.
• Oversee pilot batches and troubleshoot production problems.
• Source and utilize novel ingredients with vendors.
• Direct and review technical documentation (reports, SOPs, validation protocols).
• Provide expert guidance on complex technical challenges and solutions.
• Serve as liaison between R&D, Quality, Manufacturing, and stakeholders.
• Mentor and develop junior scientists and analysts.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and strategic planning within R&D.
