The Role

The Banquet Sous Chef reports to the Executive Chef and Chef de Cuisines, leading banquet and catering food operations, participating in restaurant prep and service, and ensuring high-quality food production for all events. Strong culinary skills, organization, communication, mentorship, and humility are essential.

What You Will Do
  • Lead and develop banquet food operations
  • Manage banquet controls, menus, recipes, and setups
  • Coordinate with banquet managers to ensure quality and timeliness
  • Maintain equipment and inventories
  • Oversee banquet event execution
  • Perform administrative tasks and assist in restaurant service
  • Ensure sanitation and safety standards
  • Anticipate material needs and manage supplies

Minimum Requirements
  • Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking)
  • Culinary degree preferred but not required
  • 3-5 years experience in culinary leadership, particularly in banquet food production
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
  • Recipe costing and organization skills
  • Knowledge of food, event production, and execution
  • Ability to work independently and flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Physical ability to stand, walk, lift up to 30 lbs, push/pull up to 100 lbs, and negotiate varied surfaces
