Job summary

The Edgewater Hotel in Madison, WI is seeking a Banquet Server to deliver high-end food and beverage service for weddings and events. You will work with bartenders, host staff, and management to set up stations and ensure smooth service at all events.

Responsibilities include timely uniformed attendance, understanding event details, guiding guests through menus, and assisting with cashiering and payments. The role requires evening/weekend work in a fast-paced environment at a premier resort.

Responsibilities

• Represent Madison’s premier luxury resort as the number one wedding location in Wisconsin Bride’s coverage.
• Report for duty punctually, in full uniform according to appearance and grooming standards.
• Report to the management team before starting and ending shifts and attend all pre or post event meetings as required by management.
• Communicate challenges, guest complaints or requests to the Banquet Captain.
• Have complete knowledge of the events Restaurant’s food and beverage preparation.
• Ability to sell alcohol and food items.
• Interact with guests in a friendly/fast manner.
• Understanding of cashiering procedures and the handling of all payment methods, including Micros if applicable.
• Maintain side-work and ensure the total cleanliness and smooth operation of the restaurant.
• Ability to clear, reset tables and/or restock or maintain stations and equipment.
• Check identification of guests to ensure guests are of legal age to consume alcoholic beverages.
• All guests must be treated in a manner to ensure their complete satisfaction.
• Promote and maintain a positive working relationship with The Edgewater colleagues.
• Consistently offer professional, friendly and warm hospitality to all guests.
• Attend all required training sessions and stay aware of menus, policies and service standards.
• Guide guests through menu and make recommendations.
• Lead and guide Server Assistants or temp employees to ensure teamwork.
• Communicate service requirements to the team members.
• Keep work areas and stations clean and tidy at all times.
• Assist guests with inquiries in a pleasant, helpful manner.
• Follow health and safety policies and procedures.
• Familiar with plated, buffet, working lunches, etc.
• Promptly remove dishes as guests complete their meals.
• Carry out other duties as assigned by management.
