Position: Banquet Server (Pittsburgh, PA)

Summary of Position

Our Banquet Servers are a key part of our team, and critical to providing genuine hospitality. They are energetic, excited to grow in the hospitality industry, and care about their team. Banquet Servers are responsible for positive guest interactions, while serving guests in a friendly and efficient manner. They play an integral role in ensuring our customers have exceptional dining and event experiences. Candidates must have open availability or at minimum be available evenings and weekends. No prior service experience needed; we are willing to train!

Primary Responsibilities and Duties

Essential Functions:

  1. Ready the station before opening and after closing shifts, and complete scheduled side work to enable full focus on guest care.
  2. Manage tables and ensure a positive guest experience.
  3. Set up all banquet function table linens, china, silverware, glassware, and center pieces.
  4. Serves all food and beverages to banquet guests.
  5. Clear away all dishes and items used in the service of a banquet, including the linens.
  6. Ensure the proper storage of all items from equipment to perishable foods.
  7. Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly fashion.
  8. Prepare for future events by folding napkins, filling condiments, and performing other duties as needed.
  9. Relieve other employees allowing for breaks during the shift.
  10. Take the initiative to greet guests promptly in a friendly and warm manner.
  11. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced work environment.
  2. Ability to create memorable guest experiences.
  3. Quickly learn event menu and be enthusiastic about our offerings.
  4. Ability to communicate clearly and professionally with guests, fellow team members, and management.
  5. Ability to work a varied schedule, including nights, weekends, and some holidays.
  6. Good judgment skills and adaptive attitude.
  7. Must have all required food / alcohol certifications as designated by location.

Reports to: Catering Operations Manager

Department: FOH Operations

Work Environment/Physical Demand:

  1. Ability to work a flexible schedule, weekends are necessary.
  2. Must stand/walk for extended periods of time.
  3. Must be able to lift trays up to/approximately 30 pounds.
  4. Must be able to tolerate potential exposure to allergens: peanut products, egg, dairy, gluten, soy, seafood, and shellfish.
  5. Must have good hearing for accurate communication with Bottleneck Management employees and guests.
